SCULLION'S TIMING

This is a very brief description of what Scullion's Timing is and our current schedule and availability.

Basically, we will time anything that moves - runners, bikers, boats, horses, skaters, cars, etc. We do most of our work in Track, Cross Country and Road Races.

Track & Field We generally do total package meets, but we can also just time. With a total package, we set up the database with the meet parameters and athletes names. We seed the events (it can be a pre-seeded meet, or we can enter them on the spot) and distribute heat sheets to the clerks, announcer, and head finish line judge (if one is used- many of the meets we work do not use finish judges). The athletes are assigned hip numbers from our computers according to the level of the meet i.e. high school, college USATF etc. The runners image is captured using our FinishLynx cameras that can shoot up to 2000 frames per second. We read the picture and print results for every heat and a composite of all the heats along with a running score, if the meet is scoring. We set up semis or finals where needed.

The results of the field events are typed in and added to the score as they are completed. We have FieldLynx hand computers if the field judges would like to use them. The FieldLynx's tell the judge who is up, who is on deck, etc. They keep track of place and set up the finals. At the end of the event, they score it and the judges do not have to figure out the misses in the high jump or pole vault, etc. The FieldLynx will do it all and then the results are dumped into our computers, scored, and results printed.

We have up to three totally independent systems going at a time. This insures that every race will be electronically timed. If one system should malfunction (very seldom) we have up to two other systems timing every race.

The minimum amount of computers used at a meet would be three, but most meets we use four to seven computers and two to four cameras. We also supply a five foot digital time clock that gives the running time and splits.

Cross Country & Road Races For cross country and road races, we enter the athletes into the database and assign bib numbers with bar codes. At the end of the race, the bar codes are scanned into the computer and sorted for place. A Time Machine is use to time each runner and those times are sent to the same computer and matched with the bar codes. Within minutes after a cross country race, we print team and individual results with every runners time and place, their average times, and the total team time and average is also listed. In road races, runners receive results listing their time, over-all place, and place in their division.

There is no longer any reason to be standing around after a cross country or road race waiting to find out your time and place.

Meet directors can contact us at 732-493-0249 or e-mail scullion@monmouth.com for any dates not listed below. We will be glad to give an estimate based on the meet or road race.
