What is setMyip?
setMyip is a perl client for the 'myip.org' service. If you would like more
information about this service, please go to
http://www.myip.org
It implements it's own socket code, and does not require any additional
utilities or programs, such as wget, http, or lynx. setMyip is released
under the GNU public license.
What features does setMyip have?
setMyip now handles account creation. Setup is a snap, upon running it
the first time, it will ask you if your have an account, create one if
necessary, and prompt you for all the information you will need. It does
NOT require you to edit the script at all (unless you need to specify
the path to your perl executable).
setMyip parses the server's output for status codes inside html comments.
I asked the maintainers of myip.org to include this into their system to
allow client developers (like myself) to reliably detect the status of
their request. This is fully implement in setMyip 0.1.2
What does setMyip require?
Perl 5.004 or later. A unix like operating system would be helpful, too.
setMyip is developed under Linux, and should work equally well on any unix
oriented operating systems.
What made you make this utility?
Simple, I would like to support not only the
open source
community, but also groups that support free services, such as myip.org.
I don't personally require the service, but when I did, I knew how
valuable it was. This is my way of support some of my intrests.
Enough of this, gimmie the goods.
You can download setMyip 0.1.2 from
here
or from the
clients page over at
myip.org.
Be sure to read the README included, for instructions on setting it all
up.
