SPECIAL ATTRACTIONS
STORY TELLERS WORKSHOP
Introductory course for adults in the
craft of story telling. No performance
experience necessary. Only requirements
are a sense of personal history, a willing
sense of humor and the desire to focus on
the technical aspects of this creative process.
Wonderful opportunity for personal and

veteran story teller with 27 years of theater

SENIOR FUN FIT
Seniors, 55+, are invited to participate in this

LIFEGUARD TRAINING
Become a lifeguard and get a summer job!
Applications will be accepted for part/full time
employment at the Community Pool & Tennis Facility.
Once interviewed, chosen applicants will be provided
with American Red Cross lifeguard training. The
course dates and fee are indicated below. (Fee will
not be collected until interviews are conducted).
Successful completion of the course will provide
certification in lifesaving, CPR and First Aid and
employment experience at the Township facility.
Limited enrollment accepted. Registrants must be at
least 15 years of age.

BIG RED BASKETBALL CAMP (GUYS AND GALS!)
Basketball camp is available to youth entering
fifth through eighth grade as of September, '97.
Develop fundamental skills and team concepts of
the game of basketball by working with qualified
staff. Offensive and defensive skills will
improve through drills, one on one, full court
play and tournaments.

veteran players and also newcomers to the sport.

SUMMER MINI CAMP
Resident youth, entering first grade through
eighth grade as of September '97, are invited
to spend their weekday summer mornings (9:00-12:00)
participating in a variety of activities including:
swimming, crafts, field trips, park activities,
sports, and water games.
BUS TRANSPORTATION is available for residents to and
from camp at an additional charge. Bus routes will
be organized by June 25 for all sessions; please note
that once established, the schedules cannot be altered
to accommodate late registrants.

LIL' KIDS CORNER
PRE-SCHOOL PLAY
Parent/child programs are organized by age
to offer structured play and opportunities
for social development. Parent participates
in all activities with child. Instructor will
lead child and parent through a potpourri of
activities: crafts, group songs, movement games
and more. Infant siblings are allowed at the
program at no fee. Other siblings (16 mos. - pre-K)
can attend at sibling rate noted below.

POOL & TENNIS FACILITY GENERAL INFORMATION

Complex is open 7 days/week, weather permitting.
MEMBERSHIP & DAILY ADMITTANCE:
1. Memberships available as indicated on the application
form.
2. Residents can also enter facility by purchasing a Resident
Identification Card and paying the established daily rate.
This is a one time $5.00 fee for as long as holder has
cards and resides within the Township. See membership
application below for specific information. Residents
seniors can obtain a free Resident Identification Card at
the Recreation Office and pay reduced daily rates.
3. Resident Identification Card holders are entitled to bring
guests with the payment of established daily rate.
GROUP PICNICS:
Any group of 30 people or more may utilize the Facility
during the following times at the noted rates.
Weekdays - Facility opening until 15 minutes before the
closing hour: $4.00/person; $2.00/youth (18 mo. to 4 yrs.)
Weekends - Facility opening until 15 minutes before the
closing hour: $5.00/person; $2.00/youth (18 mo. to 4 yrs.)
GROUP PICNICS ARE LIMITED THROUGH THE SEASON AND MUST BE
SCHEDULED IN ADVANCE THROUGH THE RECREATION OFFICE.

1. Membership photo I.D.s or re-validation of 1996 membership
cards will be taken daily at the following time:

TENNIS COURT RESERVATION & USE PROCEDURE
1. Courts are located at Wanamassa, Wayside, and Oakhurst
Parks and are available for use from 8:00 a.m. to dusk.
Courts at the Pool and Tennis Facility are limited to
members or those who pay the daily user fee.
2. Tennis cards (Resident Identification card ) can be
purchased at the Recreation Office weekdays, 2:00 - 4:30
beginning April 1st. One time fee for as long as you have
card and reside in Township is $5.00/resident.
3. Card enables holder to reserve court time at Oakhurst,
Wanamassa and Wayside parks April 15 - October 15, during
which time reservations will be posted daily.
4. Players are limited to reserving one hour of court
time/day for up to three days in advance by contacting the
Recreation Office, Monday through Friday, before 3:45 p.m.
(Court time scheduled on the hour). Reservations ARE NOT
accepted for the same day as the call.
5. Player's name and Resident I.D. card number will be
requested at time of reservation.
6. Pool and Tennis Facility resident members should use the
number listed on their pool membership identification card
if they wish to play in the parks.
7. Reservation sheets will be posted each morning at the
above mentioned parks.
8. Non-card holders can play on a first come basis if court
is not previously reserved. Non-card holders must vacate
the courts any time they are reserved.
REGISTRATION PROCEDURE
1. Registration takes place during dates specified in the
brochure and is accepted on a first-come basis. Forms
received prior to registration opening will be returned
unprocessed. ONCE MAXIMUM ENROLLMENT FOR PROGRAM HAS
BEEN MET, WAITING LISTS WILL BE KEPT. If minimum
requirement is not met, program will be cancelled.
2. Registration will be accepted through the mail or in
person at the Recreation Office from 9:00-4:30, Mondays,
through Fridays. Registration WILL NOT be accepted on
site at the program.
3. Registration form (below) must be completed and
submitted with the designated fee in order to be
registered for a program. Incomplete forms will be
returned unprocessed. Use one form per person;
additional forms can be obtained at the Rec. Office and
Municipal Bldg.
4. Make checks payable to: Township of Ocean (unless
otherwise specified).
5. Age requirements must be met by program starting date.
Copy of participant's birth certificate may be requested.
6. Request for refund must be made in writing. Granted
refunds will be assessed a $5.00 service charge.
Recreation Office reserves the right to cancel programs
and alter schedules if necessary.
