North's paneled race mainsails and genoas are all designed using the same proprietary software based on 3­D shaping. Sail loads, shape analysis and efficient cloth use are key features of North's designs. A winning design in North America can be rapidly exchanged with a designer in Europe and New Zealand through North's design library and through North's Performance Resource Group (PRG). North Sails Cloth Department works with North designers to update cloth styles to match the ever­changing arena of high­tech laminates used in paneled racing sails. Paneled race sails are available in many cloth options, including NorLam Gatorback™, Ararmids, Mylars and for some classes, Race Dacrons.
