ASYMMETRIC -- Racing Spinnakers

North racing asymmetries are a direct descendant of North's dominant America's Cup designs. The asymmetric is a fast, fun, easytofly sail that adds dramatically to a boat's reaching and broad reaching speed. The growing popularity of "sport boats" and offshore one design classes have further spurred North's asymmetric development, with a family of winning designs for virtually every class and every style of racing, whether it's pointtopoint or triangular reaching courses. (If you race PHRF, consider whether the addition of an asymmetric will alter your rating. Equally important are boat characteristics, rig setup and crew handling.) North Asymmetric spinnaker panels are computer molded, both horizontally and vertically, creating a profile that is exceptionally smooth. The result is a shape that creates a more stable wind flow over a broader wind range, which is especially important for todays generation of lighter, fasteraccelerating boats. North asymmetric spinnakers are available in cloth weights ranging from .5 polyester to NORLON 250 in a wide variety of colors.

Extra Features

AP RUNNER (right above)Big and powerful with maximum girth in the head to help rotate the sail to windward out from under the main. This sail can also be set wingandwing with the main. Well suited for windwardleeward courses where boats will sail deeper downwind angles. Polyester cloth is an excellent choice for added longevity.

BIG SCREACHER (left above) Smaller than a runner and larger than a reacher, this sail is designed to "heat up" speed on tight reaches while maintaining a fast, stable shape that is easy to trim as the wind moves further forward. Can also be used as an all purpose asymmetric when the boat is not in a high performance race mode, or when sailing short handed.

Your boat's "I" dimension determines the number of horizontal or "belly" panels designed into your spinnaker.
