Youth Programs:  NRR runs summer programs for youth, ages 14 through 18, including novice level “learn to row” programs, intermediate “skill shaping/team building” programs, and an advanced program that prepares youth rowers for competition.  Spring and fall programs allow youth to continue developing their abilities and use them at regattas. Read more about Youth Program.

Adult Beginner Lessons:  NRR offers “learn to row” programs for adults.  Each year 75-85 men and women take adult beginner lessons consisting of four 2-hour coached sessions focused on basic boat handling, blade skills, steering, and safety.  Read more about Adult Lessons.

Membership: Experienced scullers* over the age of 18 gain access to boats, equipment, facilities, coaching, and other activities by joining NRR as boat use members.  Also available--memberships for private boat owners who need rack space for their single shells and for adult beginner lesson graduates who want to continue rowing with NRR.  Read more about memberships

Are you a sweep rower or someone who hasn’t sculled in a while?
NRR offers orientation/refresher sessions to bring you up to speed.

Competition:  While NRR’s mission is educational and its members’ rowing interests mostly recreational, the club does regularly take home medals from regional, national and even international regattas.  There are plenty of opportunities to race and to train with accomplished competitors and coaches. Read more about competitive rowers.

NRR maintains a fleet of 34 club boats:  8 beginner singles, 11 intermediate singles, 3 racing singles, 4 doubles, and 7 quads (1 having riggers for both sweep rowing and sculling). Adult rowers with paid memberships and signed waivers are allowed to row in any level or type of club boat that an NRR coach certifies they are qualified to use. As newer rowers become more proficient, they can be re-certified, and are encouraged to “move up” to different shells and to join crews--although they do not have to.  Our coaching staff and volunteer coaches are available to answer questions and give tips for improving rowing technique and enjoyment.
