Each year Navesink River Rowing introduces dozens of men and women to the fun and fundamentals of rowing.  In 2007, 75 adults between the ages of 18 and 80 completed Adult Beginner Lessons where they learned the basics of sculling in single, sliding-seat shells.

Competitive Rowing

What Are They?  Sets of 4 two-hour coached lessons focusing on basic boat handling, blade skills, steering, and safety.  Small group sessions (2 coaches to 4 students) ensure that each adult receives some individual instruction, both on and off the water.  A "Beginner's Handbook" is included.
 When Are They?  Lessons are offered on consecutive (M/T/W/TH) weekday mornings in June and  on consecutive (M/T/W/TH) weekday evenings and weekend mornings (Sat/Sun/Sat/Sun) in June, July and August.   See lesson availability for dates and times.

Other Learning Opportunities--for NRR Members

 
 

Beginner Continuation Session--Free with Beginner Continuation membership.

 
  Refresher Sessions:   Informal group sessions to polish rowing skills that may have gotten a little rusty since last season.  Also helps experienced rowers who are new to NRR get to know rules, policies, and the river.  See lesson availability for dates and times.  Free with membership  
  Adult Crew (Novice):  Coached sessions to introduce adults to rowing in multiple seat boats (Doubles, Quads, Fours) and encourage them to continue to row, and possibly race, together are scheduled intermittently based on coach and crew availability.  Free with membership.  
  Adult Crew (Continuing and/or Competitive): Regularly scheduled, coached sessions for adult crews in quads or doubles to improve sculling technique, build confidence, and/or train for competition.  Skill levels, days, times and fees are still being determined.  
  Personal Coaching for individuals/Small Groups:   Private or semi-private lessons in singles or multiple seat boats are scheduled according to member interest and coach availability. Contact coaches directly.  $30/session
