Schedule of Activities - 2008!

 
 

Rowing season on the Navesink runs from  May 1 to end of October  (or early November - weather permitting).

 
 

 Unless otherwise specified  all activities take place at the NRR site on  Maple Avenue  in Red Bank [Directions to site].

Dates to Remember:

Saturday, September 20:  Work Party
Begins at 8 am.  We'll be doing site and boat maintenance and clean-up in preparation for the following week's boat dedications and the upcoming head racing season.  Bagels and beverages for all who volunteer.

Saturday, September 27: Dedication of the Fleet 2008--and celebration of our 25th Anniversary Season
Ceremony to begin at 10 am.  Please join us as we thank our generous benefactors.  Enjoy breakfast and a beautiful morning on the Navesink River! All NRR members, youth rowers, youth parents, and friends of NRR cordially invited to attend.  Dress:  very casual.  [Inclement weather will force cancellation.]

Sunday, September 28:  The King's Head XXII Regatta on the Schuylkill, King of Prussia, PA.  Marks the start of head racing season for NRR.  Several youth and masters' crews will be participating.  Spectators and supporters welcome.  [see www.regattacentral.com ]

Saturday, October 25 & Sunday, October 26Head of the Schuykill Regatta, Philadelphia, PA.  This is our final race of the 2008 season.  Boats go into winter storage afterwards. [see www.hosr.org ]

Refresher Sessions:   Informal group sessions to polish rowing skills that may have gotten a little rusty since last season.  Also helps experienced rowers new to NRR get to know our rules and the river.

   Adult Beginner Lessons:   Available in June, July and August.

Beginner Continuation Sessions--for adults who complete beginner lessons in 2008 and sign up for a beginner continuation membership (see membership). A 2-hour lesson/orientation session covering NRR rules and polices, boat care and selection procedures, row-able weather and water conditions, features of the Navesink and more.  Coaches will tell you how to sign up once your beginner lessons have ended.
