NEW JERSEY NEWSPAPERS PUBLISHED OUTSIDE OF MONMOUTH COUNTY
Preface
This listing of the MCHA's Monmouth County newspapers is an
update of the 1976 publication of Stellhorn and Wright's Directory
of New Jersey Newspapers 1765-1970. It follows this publication's
layout and, except in a few cases, uses its date spans and name
changes.
The newspapers are grouped by town and within the town, alphabetically
by newspaper title. (The appendix lists the newspaper titles
alphabetically, with references to the town of publication.)
An index to the newspapers is noted, when one is known to exist.
Newspapers and serials published by schools and organizations
are filed within the school or organization's manuscript collection
and are noted in those collections' finding aids.
The date spans held by the MCHA are noted as being in either
microfilm [mf] or hard copy [hc]. Hard copies of newspapers may
not be photocopied.

in 1849. Reverted to Belvidere Apollo in 1869, following Belvidere
Intelligencer. Became Apollo Journal in 1944.

Followed Brunswick Gazette and Weekly Monitor. Became Brunswick
Gazette.

Burlington Gazette (Burlington). d/w, 1835 Dec 16 -
1839 May 17; 1845 Mar 28 - 1856?; 1886 Apr 3 - 1926
Became Burlington Gazette and New Jersey Silk and Agricultural
Register. In 1839; the latter in turn became Burlington Gazette
and New Jersey Agricultural Register in 1841. Reverted to Burlington
Gazette in 1845. Title then became Dollar Newspaper and Burlington
County Advertiser, which was followed in 1870 by Burlington Gazette
and Burlington County Advertiser. The title once again became
Burlington Gazette in 1886. Published a daily edition from 1887
to 1913?
