The following pages provide students with the words, their pronunciations, their definitions, and their contexts from Lord of the Flies. In some cases, I was only able to find a near pronunciation, for example, crooks is pronounced crook. Pronunciations were taken from Encarta World Dictionary at http://dictionary.msn.com/ These lists were taken and modified from "The Lord of the Flies: A Teaching Guide" by Mary Elizabeth, Garlic Press. Discovering Literature Series, © 1999. This is an excellent guide for teaching Lord of the Flies. I highly recommend it for teachers who are looking for different strategies for teaching this novel.
