Kristen on Counting Crows
We are all children of the same father. We have welcomed this man into our lives where before there was a decided empty and we are all now complete. He lit a candle for us that was previously out of reach, and unknowingly brought the elusive joy of understanding to many among us. Doesn’t it seem like our Adam and our Crows have said half of everything we will ever need to say in our lifetimes? That is the reason for this attraction, this devotion. We follow them because we are afraid of missing the casual epiphany that arises every time our Adam opens his mouth, we are unwilling to miss any insight that this passive prophet might offer to us.
We seem to take ownership over this message, and we all wince a little inside when we hear a new single on the radio, knowing that millions will hear but never listen, fretting that the precious message will be muddled or lost. That is why it hurts a little as well to visit these homepages, to read the words of others saying what you felt was your ethereal connection to Adam, and realizing that you are not the only one who worships him in this way.
Some have been lucky enough to meet these men of dreams, to speak a few words on our behalf, expressing the love and appreciation...but it truly is a private illusion, imagining a personal rendition of ‘Anna Begins’ in a hotel room somewhere, Adam staring you in the face and smiling a little at your tears. That is the purpose, the goal, the Ithaca.
Until such time, I personally am satisfied to be here, one faithful in a sea of the same, loving the Counting Crows on my own. I have found, like many, the unparalleled bliss of belonging. And that is, after all, the reason for having lit the candle in the first place.
Thanks for the songs, guys, not to mention the salvation.
