COMMENTSI FEEL GOOD BEING OLD: SOMETIME I DESPAIR OVER MY BODY,THE WRINKLES,THE BAGGY EYES,AND EVEN THE SAGGY BUTT.OFTEN I AM TAKEN ABACK BY THAT OLD PERSON THAT LIVES IN MY MIRROR,BUT I DON'T AGONIZE OVER THOSE THINGS FOR LONG. I WOULD NEVER TRADE MY AMAZING FRIENDS,MY WONDERFUL LIFE MY LOVING FAMILY FOR LESS WHITE HAIR OR A FLATTER BELLY.AS I'VE AGED,I'VE BECOME MORE KIND TO MYSELF,AND LESS CRITICAL OF MYSELF.I HAVE BECOME MY OWN FRIEND. I HAVE SEEN TOO MANY DEAR FRIENDS LEAVE THIS WORLD TOO SOON; BEFORE THEY UNDERSTOOD THE GREAT FREEDOM THAT COMES WITH AGING.I KNOW I AM SOMETIMES FORGETFUL.BUT THERE AGAIN,SOME OF LIFE IS JUST AS WELL FORGOTTEN.AND I EVENTUALLY REMEMBER THE IMPORTANT THINGS. SURE MY HEART HAS BEEN BROKEN,MORE TIMES I CARE TO COUNT,BUT BROKEN HEARTS ARE WHAT GIVE US STRENGTH AND UNDERSTANDING AND COMPASSION.I AM SO BLESSED TO HAVE LIVED LONG ENOUGH TO HAVE MY HAIR TURN WHITE SO MANY OF MY FRIENDS HAVE DIED BEFORE THEIR HAIR TURNED WHITE. AS YOU GROW OLDER,IT'S EASIER TO BE POSITIVE.YOU CARE LESS ABOUT WHAT OTHERS THINK.I DON'T QUESTION MYSELF ANYMORE.I'VE EARNED THE RIGHT TO BE WRONG!!!!!!SO TO ANSWER THE QUESTION,DO I LIKE BEING OLD? YES I DO.IT HAS SET ME FREE.I LIKE THE PERSON I HAVE BECOME.BUT WHILE I AM STILL HERE,I WILL NOT WASTE TIME LAMENTING WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN,OR WORRYING ABOUT WHAT WILL BE. MAY OUR FRIENDSHIP NEVER COME APART ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART!
COMMENTSHarry, You're still a man of few words. Richie T - Happy New Year. Long time Everybody - I'm sorry I've been such a slug about getting down there - I really did spend 2 hours at Logan the time before last. It's like cobblers whose kids don't have shoes. I work for an airline and I can't get to Philadelphia!!! Miss you all (okay, most of you...) Happy New Year, Ray

COMMENTS"SOMETIME I DESPAIR OVER MY BODY,THE WRINKLES,THE BAGGY EYES,AND EVEN THE SAGGY BUTT.OFTEN I AM TAKEN ABACK BY THAT OLD PERSON THAT LIVES IN MY MIRROR,BUT I DON'T AGONIZE OVER THOSE THINGS FOR LONG" Harry, you were like that when I met you. I thought it was all natural. God Bless and don't change. Congrats to Patrick & Kit. May she play soprano. Happy New Year to all Musketeers and congrat's on surpassing the goal for re-roofing at Post 979, still the only Post to carry two Charters (VFW & AL), and the oldest of those few to be home to a bugle & drum corps (that was for Pop). Good to see Mr. Fallon posting. J
COMMENTSI freakin love you guys man!! It's nice to come home again...even if it's on the internet...love to all..."It seems we stood & talked like this"..etc etc..ahhhhh...the good old days...
COMMENTSIn 1959 when I first played in the Grantham police Boys Band, the first album I bought was Archer Epler, and it inspired me on to a 40 year love affair and participation in Drum and Bugle Corps.I have played with the famous Toronto Optimists,Canadian Commanders,2nd Signals, as well as driving buses for serveral D.C.I. Corps. My last marching was in Hershey D.C.A Championships 1979 with Niagara Regionaires under Vince Bruni. I have recently been in contact with the Optimist Alumni and hope to attend the GAS event in Toronto tis spring(2008).Thanks for the inspiration-(and now from Upper Darby Penn the Musketeers,- March on.) yours G.W.Grigg
COMMENTSWell, Harry's comments brought tears....thank GOD there are people like Ray and Jim to take a beautiful statement about life and turn it into a joke....ahhh, I love my Archie family.....Weedies broke me in well!! I have such fond memories of the corps (well, for the majority of our trips) and really consider everyone that I've met along the way as family. I have spent years here....and now my kids are here as well....(much to my mother's dismay!) Anyway, Harry, thanks for putting life into perspective...it's hard to be middle age (yep, that's me now!) and to know what's coming...but with friends and words like what we find here.....all is good! Life IS like a box of chocolates!!!
COMMENTSDon't forget GAS 2008 May 2, 3, and 4 in Toronto hosted by The DCAT Chorus. We want to see you all there. All the details are on the website dcatchorus.ca

COMMENTSHey Everyone!! We're asking for your help.....Will has been selected as a student ambassador for People to People and, if he can raise enough money, will be helping people learn about him and our great country in Europe this summer. John and I (mostly John as he's the better baker) will be having a 'bake sale' at one of the weekend practices...a date will follow.....We are also going to be selling raffle tickets for a basket of cheer.......AND we are going to be collecting your PENNIES. PENNIES for PEOPLE will help Will achieve his goal!! Please bring any pennies and lose change you have...I'll have a container set up at the post.....Thank you SO much for whatever you can do to help Will achieve this trip of a lifetime!!!
COMMENTSLooks like we've started to get some of Cossetti's emails on the Guestbook (see above). Phyl - the box of chocolates reference is well taken, but given the level of discourse involved, I think the more appropriate reference might be "Stupid is as stupid does." Harry - no one knows exactly how to send you effective New Years' wishes because no one could have anticipated you still being on this side of the lawn by 2008. I spent the past two nights at my 13 year old (Step) daughter's 8th grade musical "The King and I" so I thought about you all quite a bit. Amazing how the music in that show holds up, and how favorably it compares even now to the big time DCI corps show "concepts" (complete with tin-whistles and synchronized swimming this year). Hope to see you soon. Keep the proud traditions alive.
COMMENTSPhyl, We tried to send YOU to Europe in '82, but they insisted you have a return ticket or a visa. We said, 'Visa, she's too young for a friggin' ATM card..." Plus no one wanted to kick in money for the unaccompanied minor fee...
COMMENTSJust in case there are some people that are not sure....Will is the the youngest cymbal player in Archie (since some other kids back in the '80s!! Funny how life goes!!!) He's been around the corps since he was born (almost 11 years ago) and loves to hang out with the drum line and his dad (but I still love him anyway!!) Ray.....I don't remember you guys trying to send me away in '82.....just some pinball game in Scranton.....ahhh, maybe that's why you were trying to get me to Europe...you must have figured the pain would be less there than if I stayed state-side and had to deal with my mom!!! :) I hope everyone is well!!
COMMENTSRAY,NOW I KNOW WHY YOUR SO CONFUSED NOT KNOWING IF YOUR FROM PLUTO,JUPITER, OR MARS.WHERE I'M GOING IS TO THE PROMISED LAND, NOT LAWN .YOU MUST BE THINKING OF WHERE YOUR GOING,THE PROMISED SCORCHED LAWN.
COMMENTSHarry... fertilizer and/or bug food... good enough for me. I made my kids promise that when I kick off they'll stick me in a hefty bag and dump me on a land fill in Staten Island. It's for the birds!!!
COMMENTSRAY: HEFTY MAKES BAGS THAT BIG? THIS I GOTTA SEE, I'LL BE THERE.
COMMENTSHarry... hey Buddy... last time I looked you weren't shopping in the Petite section.... You're giving me a complexion.

COMMENTSHey you two......Harry & Ray.....Guido is my nom de guerre....almost like the spanish phrase Ray taught me to ask for directions in Patterson, NJ (su madre es.........) Very good to see that you're both posting to the site. OK Harry....I'll buy you a beer the next time we see each other. I couldn't keep a stright face for that skit....LOLOL. Just about as good as the nun and cripple with Ave Maria, eh? As for Ray and 'King & I' remember, good music, played well always sells...... 'til we meet again....AFO/OFA

COMMENTSJUST WANTED TO LET EVERYONE KNOW THAT AT 21:00 ON SATURDAY THE GRANDMOTHER OF ROBBIE,PATRICK AND SCOTT, GREAT GRANDMOTHER TO RIAN, ASHLYNN, AND CAITLYNE TAYLOR PASSED AWAY. PLEASE KEEP THESE FAMILY MEMBERS IN YOUR PRAYERS.
COMMENTSJust a few words about Bill Mullen. Mt first experience with Bill was during the annual trek to Scotland School to entertain the orphans just prior to Christmas in '62. There was this guy in our dressing room who was getting into a clown costume(makeup and all) and telling really bad joke. Yeah, that was Bill. During our time on stage Bill was constantly running around the auditorium delivering more bad jokes and presents to the kids. He also organized our tour of the medical facilities to visit with the kids. That was the start of my respect for the man who mean so much to the spirit of Archie and the activity in the Greater Philadelphia region. God bless you Bill. I hope you and Jack stay outta trouble.
COMMENTSWe are planning on coming to Elks Parade (me, my brother Dom, Bill and Ed). Would it be possible to send/e-mail what songs will be played for the parade so I can memorize them!! COMMENTSWas just wondering if Archie would ever consider reviving their I&E National Championship show as part of the Brass Reunion, now that it's in Sept. after DCA ... could be a GREAT Friday night prelude to the Saturday exhibitions ... with the renewed interest in I&E's this spring it could be a BIG winner! Andy "former Archie Open champ" Lisko
COMMENTSGreat website! For those at GAS 2008, please send a big Hello to Bob E for me - [I was the girl working "security" at the doors to Annapolis Hall Friday night and Saturday (show times) - (in the leather pants since most men tend to remember that, haha)]. Bob has been a good email buddy now for about 3 years, but I have never had the pleasure to meet him. All the best to Archie! Barb G
