Creating Separate Mail Accounts in Netscape
Communicator 4.0X
Netscape Communicator allows for the creation of
multiple "profiles" which allows several people to use the same version of
Netscape but keep their respective email and bookmarks separate. For more
information on Netscape profiles in general, see the Multi-User Profile setup at
their support site. Below, are the instructions for setting up Communicator
for multiple profiles with Monmouth Internet.
For Windows 95 & 98:
Make sure Netscape Communicator is
closed. Open the Netscape Profile Manager. (usually done by selecting the Start
button, Programs, Netscape Communicator, Utilities, User Profile Manager.)
On Profile Manager window,
click New
On New Profile Setup window,
click Next
For Full Name, enter your
real name or whatever name you would like to appear on your outgoing email. For Email
Address, enter username@monmouth.com replacing
username with your new username or login. Click Next
For Profile name, enter username@monmouth.com Leave the default directory as
is. Click Next
Leave Your name and Email
address as is, for Outgoing mail [SMTP] server, enter smtp.monmouth.com Click Next
For Mail server user name,
enter your username. **NOTE** Both username and password must be in
all lowercase. The username DOES NOT include the "@monmouth.com" part of
your address.
For Incoming Mail Server,
enter mail.monmouth.com For Mail Server type,
select POP3. Click Next
For News (NNTP) server, enter
news.monmouth.com
For Port, make sure 119 is displayed. DO NOT check the Secure
Box. Click Finish
Netscape Communicator will then start
up. The next time you open Netscape, you will need to choose your specific profile
in the Select Profile window and then click Start Communicator
to use those settings.
