How To Get There Location 4th Avenue at Ocean Blvd. Belmar, NJ 07719 Driving: From the Newark airport, take the New Jersey Turnpike South. Turn off at exit 11, Garden State Parkway, and go South. Turn off at exit 98, "Belmar, Spring Lake", to Belmar. Go right on 5th Street to Ocean. Parking: Belmar attracts a decent crowd. Its a larger stop on the tour. There's also a large beach crowd so parking can get a little tight if you don't get there early enough. There are meters along the beach and additional street parking as you move away from the beach all the way down to main street (if you do park on the side streets make sure it is in a legal space) As for motels I know there are a few in Belmar and the surrounding areas but there are also a lot of B&Bs in Spring Lake and Sea Girt, the next two towns down.
Beach Badges Mandatory: You must purchase a beach badge before purchasing your Tickets to the Belmar AVP Event. Badges are available for each day of the event right on the boardwalk on 5th street in booths at the entrance to the event. The cost is an extra $5 daily in addition to the General AVP Admission..

Articles 2005:
Belmar Open Preview July 7, 2005 Last year in Belmar, Holly McPeak / Elaine Youngs were the hot team on the AVP Tour, in the midst of winning four straight titles in addition to a pair of international events. This year, Youngs will again be the talk of the town, but more for the last win she had, with Rachel Wacholder against Misty May-Treanor / Kerri Walsh. That was just the fourth career loss for the Olympic Gold Medalists on the AVP Tour. Just as Youngs switched partners for this season, so too have many others. In fact, only five teams from last year's women's main draw in Belmar are entered in the 2005 AVP Belmar Open together, none from the top eight seeds last year. So while fans in the New Jersey coast town may need a program to keep track of who's who, the level of play will not disappoint anyone. The two teams in the Cincinnati finale are the only two teams to have played in the Final Four of every AVP tournament this season. May-Treanor / Walsh have won five events, and hold the number one seed, while Wacholder / Youngs have one win and two seconds, and have earned the number two seed. Jennifer Kessy / McPeak, who have been in the semifinals of five of the six events, occupy the number three seed. The fourth seed is a new team, Nancy Mason and Semirames Marins that was formed due to the injury Tatiana Minello suffered in the semifinals of the AVP Cincinnati Open. Going back to a 32-team field means there is no first-round bye for any teams, which can definitely make a difference. For instance, in Cincinnati a 24-team field meant that the top eight seeds had byes in the first round. Two of the eight first-round match-ups there resulted in upsets, where a lower seeded team defeated a higher seeded team, but now all teams seeded 1-16 have to play that extra match. The last four women's championship matches have featured four unique match-ups, as have the last four men's title bouts. In the first two tournaments of the year, both the men's and women's championships featured the same teams with the same results. May-Treanor / Walsh defeated Wacholder / Youngs in both, while Jake Gibb / Stein Metzger defeated Dax Holdren / Jeff Nygaard both times. Holdren / Nygaard have been the most consistent team, getting a podium finish in all six events so far. They have played in all six winner's brackets semifinals, with a 4-2 record in those matches, which means the two times they lost they needed to win just one match in the contender's bracket in order to advance to the Olympic Crossing semifinals. They have regained the number one seed, as they were also seeded first in San Diego. Gibb / Metzger, who were "sentenced" to the number one seed for three events this season, fall to the number two seed for the third time this year. One of their two wins came when they were seeded second, but no team has won a double-elimination event when seeded first since Eric Fonoimoana / Holdren did it to start the 2003 season. Two other winners from this year hold the third and fourth seeds; Matt Fuerbringer / Casey Jennings (third) and Phil Dalhausser / Nick Lucena (fourth). The fifth different team to have won an event on the 2005 AVP Nissan Series, John Hyden / Mike Lambert, are seeded seventh in Belmar. Belmar is having a men's tournament for the 15th straight year. There has been a different winning team in each of the last four years and six of the last seven. Last season Fuerbringer / Jennings won their first title ever, while in 2003 Sean Rosenthal / Larry Witt won for their first time. 2005 has been a good year for teams winning their first event together. Four men's teams and one women's team has won a title for the first time as a team. Last weekend in Cincinnati was unique in that both the men's and women's champions were enjoying their first title together. That marked the only time since 2001 that the men's and women's winners at an AVP event were both winning their first event as a team. Kiraly defeats Lambert to stay alive at Belmar Open Presented by Bud Light while May & Walsh advance July 9, 2005 July 9th, 2005 (Belmar, New Jersey)-Packed stands under sunny skies watched as three-time Olympic gold medalist and beach volleyball legend Karch Kiraly lost his opening match earlier in the day and then defeated his former partner Mike Lambert in an elimination match to advance to tomorrow's semifinals of the AVP Nissan Series Belmar Open presented by Bud Light. Olympic gold medalists Misty May and Kerri Walsh breezed through the first three rounds and advanced to the semifinals tomorrow and will face the new team of Samirames Marins and Nancy Mason. Sean Rosenthal and Larry Witt will meet East Coasters Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena in the semifinals tomorrow morning and in the other winner's bracket match-up, two-time tournament winners Jake Gibb and Stein Metzger will face Matt Fuerbringer and Casey Jennings. In a repeat match-up, Jen Kessy and Holly McPeak will face Rachel Wacholder and Elaine Youngs in tomorrow's semifinals. Tomorrow's match play begins at 8:30 a.m. with the men's and women's semifinals taking place at 11:15 a.m. The men's finals start at 2 pm with the women's to follow. Both will be broadcasted on Fox Sports Net. The semifinals will air on OLN tomorrow from 3-5 pm/ET.
May and Walsh come back to win; Gibb and Metzger take 3rd win of season July 10, 2005 July 10th, 2005 (Belmar, New Jersey)-Sold-out crowds packed the stands on the shores of New Jersey to watch Olympic gold medalists Misty May and Kerri Walsh defeat Rachel Wacholder and Elaine Youngs in the finals of the AVP Nissan Series Belmar Open presented by Bud Light. On the men's side, Jake Gibb and Stein Metzger beat Matt Fuerbringer and Casey Jennings, capturing their third win of the season. Wacholder and Youngs were the team that ended the 50-match winning streak of May and Walsh last weekend in Cincinnati. Earlier in the day, Fuerbringer and Jennings defeated Gibb and Metzger 21-16, 26-24. Three-time Olympic gold medalist and beach volleyball legend Karch Kiraly finished fifth with his new partner Adam Jewell after falling Gibb and Metzger 21-19, 23-21. The AVP Nissan Series next tournament is the Hermosa Beach Open presented by Bud Light taking place July 21st through 24th broadcast LIVE by NBC.

The Boys are Back in Belmar!!! Courtesy of the AVP Jul 21,2000 Saturday at the Sunkist Belmar AVP Open was not a good day for the AVP’s elite. The only top four seeded team surviving in the winners bracket after Saturday’s play was the 4th seeded squad of Canyon Ceman and Mike Whitmarsh who advanced to the semifinals with a convincing 15-4 win over Brian Lewis and Adam Johnson. Also slipping into the wrong bracket on day 1 was top seeds Dax Holdren and Todd Rogers who fell victim to Brazilians Anjinho and Fred 15-12. The fourth installment of the LeGrande/Neto vs. Doble/Metzger saga was played out here in Belmar, with Doble/Metzger squaring the season series to two games a piece with a 15-12 win and a place in the semis on Sunday. Belmar marked the return of Eric Fonoimoana and Dain Blanton to the AVP Tour after a few weeks playing abroad on the FIVB’s Olympic chase. Dain and Eric were not treated kindly by Nick Hannemann and Adam Jewell who sent the pair to the losers bracket with a 15-7 victory.
